Saffron Walden County High School

Masterclass @ SWCHS

We’re supporting Saffron Walden County High School’s flagship Music Academy programme with exceptional masterclass opportunities for talented sixth formers. Masterclasses are led by award-winning young musicians, often winners of BBC Young Musician Competition, or artists represented by the Young Classical Artists Trust. Over the last few years, students worked with Tamsin Waley-Cohen (violin), Timothy Ridout (viola), Sean Shibe (guitar), Louis Schwizgebel (piano), Laura van der Heijden (cello) and Tom Poster (piano).

Next season, we look forward to Young Artist Coffee Concerts with Jean-Sélim Abdelmoula (Sunday 17 Mar 2019) & Tabea Debus & Alex McCartney (Sunday 23 Jun 2019).

The performing musicians will lead a masterclass after their recital. Starting at 4.30pm, masterclasses are open to the public and free to watch. Masterclasses are free to attend and tickets are not required.

NYJO @ SWCHS

On Friday 13 October the brilliantly talented National Youth Jazz Orchestra spent an afternoon rehearsing with 27 Saffron Walden County High’s jazz musicians under the leadership of NYJO music director Mark Armstrong and then performed alongside NYJO during their evening concert to showcase their work!
