Alice Through the Looking Glass (KS1)

03 April 2019

A group of musicians dressed in red and black play on a stage with a chequerboard-patterned floor

An interactive musical performance for Key Stage 1 which will take you on a journey through the looking glass into the fantastical world of Lewis Carroll.

WEDNESDAY 3 APRIL 2019: Performances at 11.30-12.15pm & 1.30-2.15pm with supporting twilight CPD at 3.45-5.30pm

What’s through the looking glass? Discover an array of colourful characters in Looking Glass Land – from the terrifying Jabberwocky and the dim witted Tweedledee and Tweedledum to the warring White and Red kings and queens. Play a game of musical chess, learn new songs about the jubub bird and the bandersnatch, compose a magical soundscape and conduct and ensemble of Britten Sinfonia players…or are they lions and unicorns?

Music will include excerpts from:

Debussy – Cello Sonata
Gerald Barry – Jabberwocky
Beethoven – Pastoral Symphony
Ligeti – Trio for horn, violin and piano
Ravel – Mother Goose Suite
Tchaikovsky – The Nutcracker
